MY CAMEROON TRIP WAS SUCCESSFUL – ORTOM

imageBenue State Governor, Samuel Ortom described his trip to Cameroon with President Buhari as
successful.
The governor made this known to newsmen on his return to the state on Thursday at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
Apart from closed door meeting between President Buhari and his Cameroonian counterpart, President Paul Biya, he said governors from both countries discussed issues of mutual interest. Top of the agenda were trans-border joint security, trade and commercial activities and provision of infrastructure.
According to the governor, it was agreed that local governments that share boundaries from those countries be encouraged to interact with themselves with the objective of tackling common challenges.
The governor said he particularly discussed the road linking the state with Cameroon and trans-border posts and other related facilities.
A statement by the special adviser to the Governor on Media and ICT, Mr Tahav Agerzua quoted the governor saying they met the Nigerian community in Cameroon who were happy and looking forward to a sustained relationship between the two countries.
President Buhari was accompanied to Cameroon by Governor Samuel Ortom and five other governors, namely Al­haji Mohammed Bindow (Adamawa), Mr. Emmanu­el Udom (Akwa Ibom), Alhaji Kashim Shettima (Borno), Mr. Ben Ayade (Cross River) and Mr. Dar­ius Ishaku (Taraba).
